IC3 (Internet and Computing Core Certification) is a certification of general expertise  of using Internet Computer and Technology (ICT) with global standards and relevant for global workforce and education. IC3 created by Certiport (www.certiport.org)– part of Pearson leading company  which provides certification programs and training solutions for educational institutions, job seekers and technology companies that can be accessed through over 12,000 Certiport Authorized Testing Centers around the world.

at work environtment, employees who have IC3 certification will have the ability to complete their daily work with level of efficiency and effectiveness above average. This will reduce dependence on the IT support team and become one of the real impacts of the skills development program provided to employees. For the world of education, the certification of teachers and students with IC3 guarantees that they understand and are able to use computer equipment and technology used in the teaching and learning process, so that the teaching and learning process can run effectively without technical difficulties due to the inability to use computer equipment and technology.

Consist of 3 Certification Modules:

  • Computing Fundamentals
  • Key Applications
  • Living Online

The types of questions in each module are theoretical questions and real simulations as well as daily use. Tests can be done in Bahasa Indonesia and English.

Computing Fundamentals

This module tests your knowledge about:

  • Hardware, peripherals and troubleshooting

Questions of this module are about the types of computers that are available, computer devices and supporting devices, the purpose and function of the components, input-output devices such as printers, cameras, scanners, etc., how computers process information.
In addition, it also tests how to treat computer devices, keep computers from damage and theft, how to solve common computer problems.

Computer software (software)

An application / computer software allows us to create, search, manage and deliver information.
This section examines how the hardware and software works in performing certain tasks and how an application is updated. In addition, it also tests knowledge on how to use common applications such as word processing, numerical processing, presentation processing, database processing, graphics, multimedia and so on.

  • Use of the Operating System (Operating System / OS)

An operating system manages the flow of information and does a lot of work behind the scenes.
In this section we will examine an understanding of what is meant by the operating system and how it works, how to manage an operating system. It will also be tested on how to manage files & folders, install & uninstall an application and how to deal with problems that commonly occur in the operating system.

Key Applications

The material to be tested in this module are:

 General Program Functions

Test about understanding how to open and close an application, set the display and use various kinds of online help and some general functions for file management, editing, formatting and printing a document.

  • Word Processing Application

Test knowledge of elements in an organized document, format text and documents. In addition, it also tests our ability to use word processing applications such as making, reviewing, protecting documents and others.

  • Number Processing Application

Number processing applications can manage and display information in the form of numbers effectively. This application provides various kinds of formulas and functions that can calculate, sort and process information automatically. This section examines how to use an efficient number processing application. Like sorting and organizing data using formulas and functions, creating effective graphics and presenting data using tables and graphs and other functions.

  • Presentation Processing Application

Communicating to discuss about a topic at this time can be done freely both in class, work place, even between different countries by presenting the topic.
This section examines your knowledge on how to design, organize and modify a presentation.

Living Online

This module tests your knowledge about:

  • Communication and Internet Network

Networks and the internet turn a computer into a tool to search, share and store information throughout the world. This section examines knowledge of commonly used types of networks, benefits and risks of computer networks. It also includes knowledge about how to send data types, the roles of senders, recipients and data servers as well as the security principles.

  • Electronic Communication

Today’s communication is able to easily connect with one another in various parts of the world by using electronic communication media such as e-mail, cellular phones, blogs, teleconferencing, social networking media and others. On this topic you will examine your understanding of the types of electronic communication, how to work and how to use it effectively. Including the ethics of communicating on the internet (netiquette) and common problems that occur such as failing in data transmission, junk mail, fraud, viruses, and so on.

  • Internet and World Wide Web (WWW)

The internet is not only used for entertainment alone; but it is also one of the ways to find and share information, communicate between friends, conduct business and also needs related to the government.
This section will examine the understanding of how to evaluate the quality of information obtained and identify behaviors that are responsible when making or using online content.

  • Impact of Computers and the Internet on the Community

Computers have become a part of all aspects of life, such as in the world of work, education, government, home and social interaction. In this section we will examine the knowledge of how to use the appropriate computer in various fields of life, the risks of using computers and their applications, and how to use computers & the internet safely, ethically and not violate the law.

Achievement credentials are only given to participants who passed in certain modules.

  • IC3 is a test that is carried out using internet access (Internet based test).
  • There are 2 types of questions that must be answered in the IC3 test, namely multiple choice and questions about functions. Multiple choice questions are very easy and you have a 25% chance to choose the right answer even if you only choose answers randomly.
  • Other types of questions about functions, for example when you have to answer a question about the mail merge function in a word processing application, you will be asked to do a simulation of opening the application to use the mail merge function to get the score. Make sure you understand the basic functions in order to answer the questions correctly.

As preparation before taking the IC3 test and to get an overview of the IC3 questions, ITC provides the following tools:

ICT flash application
An example of a question in the form of a flash that is given free of charge, just by downloading here.
The example of the question gives an idea of what the question is and what you will do when you take the test so that you can give an idea of what preparations need to be done before taking the IC3 test.
